HARO FLIGHTLINE ONE R 26"

Haro’s latest creation is their Flightline One R. R means rigid (or no suspension). It’s a lighter street version of their Flightline mountain bike, hence the absence of suspension.

Much like the ByK, the Flightline is going to be agile, easily maneuverable, quick to pick up speed and slow down. It’s perfect for bike paths and rail trails; from bitumen to light well-compacted dirt and gravel.

The Flightline R’s wider tyre profile helps mute impacts creating a smoother ride. The low profile tread isn’t enough to slow the rider down on bitumen paths but does offer much more grip on compacted dirt and gravel trails.

There are only 2 sizes the Flightline R comes in - XS and SM. Perfect sizing for kids who are a little too big for a 24-inch but still too young to ride an adult bike.

To keep the weight down, the Flightline One R comes with a lot of alloy components; handlebars, head stem, seat post and wheels.

Starting from the front of the bike:

Haro has equipped it with mechanical V-brakes. These are paired to a machined brake-surface (the silver bit on the rim).

A machined braking surface is important because it delivers more power and better control. Further Promax alloy brake levers make it easy for small hands to stop. The levers can be adjusted further inward as well which makes the lever even easier to reach.

Next we’ll cover the gears.

Shimano components are used heavily for the gearing system because they’re reliable and they work. There are 3 front gears and 7 rear gears controlled by Shimano’s RevoShift twist shifters.

Most of the time, we’d recommend keeping the front gears (left hand shifter above) in gear number 2 and relying on the back gears only.

And a quick re-fresh. Gear 1 is our easiest gear which is used for climbing very steep inclines. Gear 7 is our hardest gear which is designed to increase speed on very steep descents.

Most of the time gears 3, 4 and 5 are going to be sufficient for riding on most gradients though.
